Vira's Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day

5 Frostide, 52

After a harrowing ordeal Vira and the gang investigate blood therapy

Played on: August 28 2025

Vira awakes and is compelled to write in her own blood, just as Talis Grimwald did. I am so disappointed. Is this your friend? followed by the symbol of the Anarchists. An intricate sun. Vira initially tries to hide what happened from Skrimshander, before explaining that it was Misha Ossick who compelled her to write this message. She reveals she was not turned into a vampire via bite, but instead through a slow process of draining her blood and replacing it with Misha Ossick's own. She was not aware of the level of control it would give him over her. Skrim is not a fan of this, saying we are not slaves to our masters, and asks Caiden to bring them back to the library to find out more about this.

Caiden was reading the newspaper which had an article in it about Mad's Dismissal.

We chat with the Archivist, who explains that they scry on all of the empire and know anything important they will do before they even do it. But also they might suck because they immediately find out that a bunch of documents were stolen and they dont know by who.

They also mention knowing something about Skrim's identity, only not knowing Adelheid. We do learn some things about blood therapy, which is that Vira is basically a blood puppet. The Archivist knows about Vira's situation and spills to the group.

Vira very hesitantly agrees to see if the Emperor can do anything to help. He is not impressed with Caiden harboring Talis Grimwald but also entertains the idea of using him against the First. Emperor does not support the blood therapy procedure and says he was the one who stole the notes from the library to prevent it, but the late Prince was the one who invented it in the first place. Prince apparently used the procedure on someone the Emperor loved, but it was unsuccessful. The best way to break the connection is for the master vampire to die. He explains that Vira's thoughts are probably not being actively read, but Misha can feel what she feels, physically and emotionally. She is most susceptible to control while asleep.

Vira convinces everyone to sneak into the Archivist's scrying room. We take turns with it, when Vira tries to scry on Misha, she tries to slash her own hand with silver but he compels her to stab her own leg instead, then reveals he has Vira's close friend captive and stabs her as well. Caiden changes the scrying channel to the First Child instead, who is in the process of planning an attack on Caiden's tower. He then looks for the lost artificer, who appears to be captive in some sort of tiny workshop somewhere. Archivist catches us and weirdly helps Caiden locate the artificer.

Squad returns to tower to prepare and warn Talis. He decides to flee to Maradov.

Meanwhile, Caiden's butler lies about getting letters from the CC. Crew decides to sleep in shifts to watch Vira and head to Maradov the next day to find the artificer.
