7 Frostide, 52

A meeting with the assassins proposes an alliance between the assassins and the anarchs, Caiden's Tower burns

Played on: September 10 2025

After resting and informing Mad of the situation , Scrimshander informs the Conductor that they may need to ask something of him upon their return from a meeting, but refuse to elaborate further than that. The Conductor is thankful for being saved but is apprehensive about not knowing any impending requests that might be asked. He also regrets telling the vampires of the group that he owes them his life.

The train is stopped near the hidden assassin's lair after the captive's were freed. The Assassins agree to not derail the train until after the meeting.

After a half hour walk, The leading Assassin, Valerio, uncover a mine passage obscured by an illusory piece of fabric that blends in with the rest of the train tunnel. It isn't much further before they find themselves inside the Lair.

They are led to a little bar that has been set up inside a cavern and meet Basil, A gnomish blacksmith who formerly worked as an assassin but now manages meetings with clients. He explains that Carmen is in charge of the organization, but Carmen happens to be the individual who was captured by the first Childe. He offers them refreshments for their meeting, Offering wine and blood as a peace offering.

He was aware of the failed mission. And rambles for a time about eggs as a metaphor for members of his 'family'.

Basil explains that the first job was considered botched, a failure that the First Childe used to continue asking for work for extortion purposes. Vira offers a potential Alliance with the Anarchists of Krovil and Potentially the Vein.

The Assassins Mentioned they currently do not have any Assassins inside the First Childe's Court.

Mad Expresses Concern about this plan.

Axel, the assassin who got away, interrupts the meeting, Immediately leaves and throws a tantrum in the room he disappears into.

Valerio good naturedly introduces himself finally and excuses Axel's poor disposition. He shows Mad to where the Artificer Rider Tallfellow, is working, thriving and undisturbed. Mad is a menace of clumsiness in the lab. He Mentions the Boneveil Assassins are in tough times.

Vira learns from Basil that the Boneveil assassins use a wire through the metro to communicate covertly in both Krovil and Maradov.

Caiden States that it should be easy enough to establish a military prescence on the Metro both to maintain the travel between both cities and give a legitimate excuse for the assassin's failure in their endeavor.

Cobweb the Bone cat has chosen Adelheid and is very fond of seeking attention from her.

Viola A silvery blue Tiefling emerges from the room where Axel was ranting, and explains when asked that Axel is Carmen's son so he's been very irritable lately.

Viola expresses she recognizes mad from the night of the assassination. She describes the assassination, the use of the pure darkness vial, wrenching the decorative rib from the emperor, stabbing the Grande Prince with it.

She reveals that she has a mental connection to the Grand prince. After Vira and Scrimshander dig into a line of questioning that revealed that Viola is a secret childe of the Grande prince borne of blood therapy.

Caiden returned to the room after beating up a wall, Viola comments that she can smell Caiden's blood.

Viola describes the mental assault she experienced the night of the blood rain. Tearing her room apart, She felt her body torn to a fine mist. And after being questioned by Vira she admitted that She wrote down a contract targeting the entire boneveil assassins as targets signed in her own blood.

Scrimshander asks why this blood therapy was developed. Viola says that it was control. Viola says that they've met the emperor once or twice while Viola was serving the grand prince as his spymaster. Viola doesn't believe that she was the first person to undergo blood therapy.

Viola Explains what she understands about the connection formed by blood therapy. Which reveals to Mad that Vira has the same trouble.

Misha Ossick being revealed as Vira's master caused Viola to visually flinch. Misha Ossick was the one who Captured Carmen. Vira Explains he has someone of his

If you send any messages to the assassins sign them messaged directly to 'Cobweb'

Viola and Valerio Bid the group farewell. Showing them out and back safely to the Metro tunnel.

They return via rail to Maradov telling the conductor the plan about reinforcing Metro security. The little old knitting woman is no longer presently on the train as you return.

It is evening when you emerge from the metro and it is a quiet trip home with no issues at the border. Upon the Tram the smell of smoke is carried from the cold northern wind. The tower on the Evergreen Isle is consumed in flame.

The staff have rescued themselves and some of the valuables and important things away from the fire but there are still people inside the burning building.

The gardener saw it first and woke up Ruben and Gilga. Cassie was still up there as is Wren. Vira casts Fly on Adelheid. Adelheid after a moment of confusion is told she can fly now. Adelheid grabs hold of Caiden and uses him as a vomiting ice extinguisher.

Mad does a sweep of the first floor, finding no one. He piles up objects and furniture up hastily to climb to the second floor. He hears Wren sobbing within a wardrobe. She is completely inconsolable and babbling something about it being her fault. Caught up in the situation he shouts at Wren that this is neither the time or place for this and forces her to pay enough attention to escape the flames.

Once Wren is safely out Mad continues his climb upward, finding that the worst of the fire the place where the burning could have originated from because the ceiling below where Grimwalde's room roughly was has entirely collapsed.

Adelheid drops off Caiden in an area that is engulfed so he could fight it while continuing upward to find anyone who's missing. They find Cassie, trapped under a massive burning book case in the room below the rooftop observatory, lamenting that she couldn't a secret and save it and begging for help out from under the case. Adelheid shoulders the massive bookcase and lifts it and Vira pulls the crushed Cassie out to relative safety. Earning a hug for each of them before she is returned safely to the ground below.

While putting out the fire in the workshop Caiden's grandfather, the emperor ports in via a set of old teleportation runes. He checks that Caiden is okay and puts out the rest of the fire via sleet storm. As Caiden is leaving the emperor disappears into a door Caiden did not know existed.

Everyone is safe and sound and out of the building, aside from the emperor.

The Emperor Emerges surprising everyone that he was here and he states that he feels as though Mad should still be an enforcer.

Caiden explains the situation with the tower. Doros says that the most important things in the tower have been saved. Caiden overshares about Vira's connection to Misha Ossick. And the meeting with the assassins.

Doros lies to Vira as she attempts to leave, claiming that if she steps out of the island's 'wards' she would suffer a consequence. She begins to glow bright fuschia after taking her chances. Adelheid follows but stops before suffering the same fate. He wished to buy Caiden some time to apologize.

Scrimshander offers to search the tower for signs of lingering individuals. Scrimshander is distracted from their search by an incredibly distinct sense of sadness or nostalgia.

Mad apologizes to Wren for shouting. Wren explains she's the sort of vampire that is considered cursed a bad omen, and a bringer of terrible fortune of everyone around them. She blames herself for everything's gone wrong for Caiden. Mad thinks she's giving herself too much Credit. He helps lift her spirits some.

While talking to Mad Wren reveals that Ruben was visited by a stranger who had a package. She gives a description that matches that of the First's Envoy. He seemed to have charmed or controlled Reuben. The message was for Adelheid.

Reuben is questioned and believes he had sent the messenger away claiming told the messenger he had no need for the messenger services he was peddling.

The emperor lifts the BIIG Faeirie Fire from Vira once he's satisfied there is no one here.

Vira sits down to rest in the Garden. Caiden apologizes to her. They discuss why it was such a dangerous thing to reveal to the Emperor.

Vira states that if the emperor and Archivist knew everything the tower would not have burned. Nobody knows everything.

Caiden Catches the emperor up on the train attack, and is granted a wing of the castle to stay in. He seems hesitant to forgive assassins of their crimes, but assures Mad there will be no issues with any of Caiden's companions staying in Hartspire. Mad is relieved because asking anything of his family would have been unpleasant.

Doros leaves via the teleportation circle in the workshop.

Before leaving the Scrimshander walks through the tower again in pursuit of this strange feeling they had. Eventually Scrimshander finds themselves in the workshop. They are drawn to a section of wall. They touch the wall and it shifts to reveal a room that should be open sky beyond. It is artificially lit in such a way that simulates sunlight warm and pleasant. The walls are covered in murals and paintings and fine glass windows that let the light in. the floors are an ornate tile mosaic that looks like a warm woodland hillside dotted with a city structures it lush green pleasant place viewed from the sky.

There is a painting in the center of the room veiled in deep green velvet. The Scrimshander reveals the painting. It is a portrait of a pair of people One is an ambiguously gendered angel with obsidian hair and glorious silvery wings that look like they're fluttering in a breeze. They hold a withered skeletal individual in their arms. Looking upon them with an expression of pure love. The deathly being is clad in finery that has been frayed with time but had once held grandeur and similar fashion sense to Doros Greycastle.

Scrimshander shows Caiden the room with a good deal of wonderment in their tone.

The painting makes Skrimshander feels an uncomfortable foreign feeling that squirms around in their gut.

Caiden doesn't understand the meaning of the painting but he suspects that it depicts his grandparents.

Scrimshander gets the uncontrollable urge to touch the painting. Their fingers sink into the painting and they become flooded with thoughts and memories and places all at once in a way that makes Scrimshander feel sick. They shy away from it wrenching back and saying that they should leave this room. Scrimshander becomes LONG scrimshander and leavessss.

The door is shut by Caiden hiding the secret once more.
